Breakfast with Ituen Basi

Recently I had the pleasure of attending a press conference at the Wheatbaker hotel, this was no ordinary press conference, this was an invitation to have breakfast with Ituen Basi. The eponymous fashion Label had managed to gather the top heads in fashion media all under one roof to intimate us on what has been happening with the label Hitherto. The classy event, hosted by the oh-so affable Taofick Okoya, saw all fashionable guests split into little groups to take part in a fun task. Each table was aptly named after each collection of Ituen Basi designs since inception and the major task was to make a picture collage of everything pertaining to your table's collection from a pile of cut out pictures. Sounds confusing at first right? But it ended up being so fun as we raced against time to beat the other teams.

It was quite serendipitous that I found myself on the same table as Genevieve Magazine Editor Dimeji Alara, Ono Bello, Deola Adebiyi, Afam from Buyam.com and as expected, we won the group task!
After all the fun, the fashion house introduced Traycee Nwapa as the designer of their new store and she gave guests a brief overview of how the amazing partnership came about. We can't wait to see what creativity she will bring to the new store!

The major announcement of the morning was the fantastic collaboration between artist, Victor Ehikhamenor and Ituen Basi on the latest collection named

E  K  E  M  I  N  I

The two artists found common ground in their love for newsprint design, which Ituen is very famous for. And to top it all off, Chef Tolu Eros of cookie Jar came in and announced yet another collaboration with Ituen Basi to capture the taste of Ituen Basi!

I was wondering how that was going to be possible; Ituen Basi designs are so colorful, whimsical, with a lot of movement and texture....goodluck to him captuting all of that in one pastry. He came bearing a Christmas tree of Ituen Basi cookies and customized cupcakes which I must say were very very delicious.

At the end of the breakfast when everyone had enjoyed the full Ituen Basi experience, we are all revved up and ready to see what next Ituen Basi has in store for us. I for one cannot wait!
